First off, you need to be aware that the format of MSI has been revamped, intensifying the competition as teams fight for Worlds 2024 qualification.
G2 Esports is once again the first team to secure a place in this year’s Mid-Season Invitational.
By clinching victory in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) Winter 2024 playoffs and successfully defending their title, they automatically secured a spot at MSI.

It’s important to note that the League of Legends Japan League (LJL) has been integrated into the PCS playoffs as a part of their path to qualifying for MSI.
As a result, the region no longer has a direct spot at the event.

What is MSI 2024?
MSI is an annual tournament organized by Riot Games that typically takes place between the spring and summer splits of the various regional leagues.
It serves as a mid-year international showdown, where top teams from different regions showcase their skills and strategies on a global stage.
Riot Games announced changes to the format of MSI 2024, where the victorious team secures automatic qualification for Worlds 2024, the culminating event of the season.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that the region with the second-best performance at MSI receives an additional seed for their region.
MSI 2024 is held in Chengdu, China, from May 1 to May 19, 2024.
