T1 has added another championship win under their belt. Despite going against league leaders Gen.G in the 2020 LCK Spring Playoffs, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and his team dominated their opponents in a convincing 3-0 series victory.

Game one

Game one was a slow-paced game for both teams. By the 30th minute, things were looking pretty much even on each side, with T1 only having a 6K gold lead.

In Gen.G’s top jungle, Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan and Faker caught Kim “Clid” Tae-min off-guard as he attempted to use Rek’Sai’s Prey Seeker on Baron. Faker eventually took down Clid and created a clash opportunity for T1.

Kim “Canna” Chang-dong executed a two-man knock up with Call of the Forge God, giving T1 the chance to gang up on some Gen.G members. Canna tried to claim the ace with a chase on Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk, but the Gen.G ADC kited the Sylas player for a kill.

T1 was able to take the Cloud Soul and Baron, which powered them through the final fight in Gen.G’s base. With only three of Gen.G left as the last line of defense, T1 swarmed the base from all sides, destroying all inhibitors and rushing the Nexus for the first win.

Game two

Gen.G found better footing in the second game. With a tankier frontline of Jarvan IV, Ornn, and Galio, the team had no trouble soaking up damage from T1. By the tenth minute, all three tanks crashed the bottom turret for a fast double-kill.

Despite their efforts though, Gen.G had trouble containing T1’s poke-heavy backline of Corki and Varus.

With the rest of T1 tanking the midlane turret and inhibitor, Teddy charged into the base and sniped a few more players with his Piercing Arrow. Once they had the 2v5 advantage, T1 destroyed the last remaining turrets and Nexus for the game two win.

Game three

With their backs against the wall in game three, Gen.G started to commit to riskier plays for better outcomes. Although T1 was ahead in kills, Clid and his crew easily secured a drake lead.

To get a solid lead on Gen.G, T1 rushed quickly and made their way to Baron right at the 20th minute. While Clid attempted to steal the Baron, Ruler shot some deadly arrows at Lee “Effort” Sang-ho. As soon as T1 claimed Baron, they ganged up on Clid and Kim “Life” Jong-min, adding more kills on the board.

To increase the champion and gold deficit, the rest of the Baron-buffed T1 traversed midlane to take the life of Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee.

From that moment, T1 initiated a quick takeover on the whole map. They claimed the Ocean drake and the second Baron, leaving nothing but waves of creeps to crash Gen.G’s towers.

With a 14K gold lead, T1 looked unstoppable in the late-game phase. At the 28-minute mark, T1 stormed Gen.G’s base from the botlane with Canna tanking most of the turret and champion damage.

Even with their entire line-up in the base, Gen.G found no way to retaliate against T1. Canna rushed the defending players with a quick knock up while Faker and the rest of the team shredded the turrets and the Nexus, completing the sweep and crowning themselves the LCK Spring champions.

With the 2020 LCK Spring victory, T1 took home a cash prize KR₩100,000,000 (US$81,000).

Cuzz bagged his own share of KR₩5,000,000 (US$4,000) for being the season’s MVP.

This championship marks T1’s eighth playoff win within the Korean league. T1 also became the third team to sweep their regional finals this year, with the other two being G2 Esports and Cloud9.
