Korean League of Legends pro, Heo “PawN” Won-seok, has announced his retirement.
The mid-laner for League of Legends Champions Korea team King-Zone DragonX announced his retirement on September 28, just a few days before the World Championship 201 Play-In stage started.
PawN revealed that he had developed a mental illness back in 2018, even before he took a break earlier May this year.
“I was hit with the compulsive disorder at 2018 and I could not play the game at all if I was not set up in exactly the way I wanted it to,” according to a translated statement by Korizon.
Despite his disorder, PawN continued to play as KT Rolster’s mid-laner back at Worlds 2018. King-Zone DragonX acquired him after, where PawN played for the team until the Spring Split.
“I thought everything was ok, I began playing for Kingzone DragonX, I finished the spring split without issues.
But when the summer split came, I didn’t expect the compulsive disorder would hit me again. In a different way, so suddenly,” revealed PawN.
PawN is known for his incredible run at Worlds back in 2014 with the now-disbanded LCK team Samsung White. Together with Choi “Dandy” In-kyu, Gu “Imp” Seung-bin, Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong, and Jang “Looper” Hyeong-seok (who has also retired), Samsung White bagged the Worlds trophy for the last time before they dissolved.
