After dropping to the Lower Bracket following an upset loss to MAD Lions (MAD) in the first round, G2 Esports is back on track. The LEC defending champions dominated Origen (OG) in a best-of-five series, winning 3-1 to advance to the semifinals.

G2’s Rasmus “Caps” Winther’s Ezreal called the shots to kill OG’s Elias “Upset” Lipp’s Aphelios, which paid off for his whole team in the first game.

To secure their Baron Nashor kill, G2’s Martin “Wunder” Hansen’s Maokai cast his ultimate ability Nature’s Grasp which rooted Upset. This gave Caps’ Ezreal an opportunity to freely harass the bot laner. G2’s Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle’s Yuumi then activated his Final Chapter ultimate, which again rooted Upset in place. Caps then finished him off with a perfectly-timed Trueshot Barrage.

Everything went downhill for Origen from this point as G2 gained their Baron Nashor buff. It was Caps’ Ezreal who shined the most in this play as he took down all four remaining members of OG and delivered an astounding Pentakill.

G2 took the lead of the series in 33 minutes with a 21/11/54 team KDA.

In game two, Origen fared slightly better, with Erlend “Nukeduck” Holm picking up a huge triple kill late in the game. At the 30-minute mark, Origen prevented G2 from acquiring the Ocean Soul buff by bringing the fight closer to the sentinel’s area. This became a huge advantage for the team as OG’s Nukeduck’s Azir teleported near a well-placed ward and eradicated G2 in one clean sweep.

However, despite Nukeduck’s heroics, it wasn’t enough to stop G2, who ended up taking this game in 41 minutes.

Origen managed to strike back on the third game, but G2 closed out the series in game four.

The BO5 series ended in a 3-1 standing in favor of G2 Esports. They will be moving on to the LEC 2020 Spring Playoffs semifinals where they will face MAD Lions for the second time.

The winner of that game will advance to the final where they will face off against Fnatic (FNC).
