Match of the Week: T1 vs Gen.G

A matchup between two of Korea’s best teams is our marquee match of Week 2.

In Game 1, a nailbiting game saw the gold advantage go back and forth between the two teams with only a margin of 100 gold between them. Although the game progressed as a stalemate, T1 eventually got the upper hand with a few kills and secured a win against Gen.G’s undermanned Nexus.

Game 2 was a complete turnaround for Gen.G. Aside from locking down most of the elemental drakes, Gen.G accumulated a 5K gold lead before the 30-minute mark.

The team eventually sealed the deal with a beautiful split attack on T1 in the mid-lane. Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk took out both Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan while the rest of Gen.G completed the game-winning ace.

In Game 3, T1 seized the advantage with a perfectly-timed knock-up on Gen.G. As Gen.G tried to reset their positions, Kim “Canna” Chang-dong called the Forge God and stopped Ruler in his tracks. With no possible escape, T1 immediately locked onto Gen.G’s ADC to get the 4v5 advantage.

Although Gen.G was already retreating, Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee miscalculated his dash into Park “Teddy” Jin-seong, giving T1 two game-winning kills on him and fellow teammate Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong. With only two Gen.G members left, T1 stormed the base for the series finish.

Player of the Week: Park “Teddy” Jin-seong

T1’s Teddy was a force of nature in their series against Gen.G. The ADC player played the back-line perfectly and made sure his teammates’ crowd-control efforts were put to good use.

In this highlight play, Gen.G interrupted T1’s Baron rush for the final clash. Bdd was able to isolate Faker and Lee “Effort” Sang-ho with a Weaver’s Wall, but the two were unbreakable against Gen.G’s attacks.

As the wall crumbled, Canna immediately dashed for a quick slice-and-dice on Gen.G. With the rest of T1 laying down the AoE damage, Teddy easily sniped half of Gen.G from the Baron pit, claiming a well-deserved triple-kill.

Standings

Dragon X is the current leader of the LCK with a 4-0 standing.

Right behind them, we have T1, Gen.G, and Afreeca Freecs tied for second place.

Hanwha Life, DAMWON, and Griffin lie in the middle of the leaderboard with a 2-2 standing while SANDBOX, APK Prince, and kt Rolster hold LCK’s lowest rankings.
