Razer has unveiled a new mouse that looks ideally suited for FPS gamers.

The Viper has a medium-small ambidextrous shape, and weighs just 69g (without requiring any speed holes), making it Razer’s lightest ever gaming mouse. Its low weight should make it a good competitor for other lightweight mice like Logitech’s G Pro Wireless, and Glorious’ Model O.

The mouse has a 16,000 DPI 5G optical sensor, which is highly likely to be the same PixArt PMW3389 sensor used in Razer’s DeathAdder Elite.

Razer also claims that the mouse has a faster actuation time than other gaming mice thanks to its optical switches. According to Razer, the optical switches, which use an infrared light beam to register a click, are three times faster than mice fitted with traditional switches.

Razer has already been field-testing the Viper with its CS:GO pros, among them Epitácio “TACO” de Melo, who said, “The click of the switches feel a lot better, and the cable is really nice and flexible”.

The Razer Viper is available today for US$80.
