If you’re worried about missing out on the older generation Pokémon in newer Pokémon games, fret not.

Pokémon Sword and Shield producer Junichi Masuda announced that Pokémon from past titles will have a chance to reappear in newer games. This was a follow-up to Masuda’s previous statement that “some Pokémon cannot be transferred” to Game Freak’s upcoming Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

“After so many years of developing the Pokémon video games, this was a very difficult decision for me,” said Masuda.

“I’d like to make one thing clear: even if a specific Pokémon is not available in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, that does not mean it will not appear in future games.”

The overwhelming number of existing Pokémon is the reason behind this company decision. Masud mentioned having higher quality animations for the pocket monsters in Sword and Shield, and that would be a problem if all 800 species are to be involved according to a report by VG 24/7.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be released worldwide on November 15 this year.
