If you are playing Stellar Blade or planning to hop in the game, you must know whether you can access the open world in Stellar Blade after completing the story to avoid the mistakes we made during our first playthrough.

Stellar Blade offers a semi-open world experience with multiple regions filled with unique enemies, bosses, side activities, and quests that are rewarding and that let you learn more about the game’s lore and the people in it.

Stellar Blade review: A combat system like no other — more than just Nier Automata on steroids

When you progress the main story to a certain point, you will get the prompt asking whether you want to progress further into the main story.

Doing so will lock you out of the side quests and restrict you out of other areas, raising the question whether can you access the open world in Stellar Blade after completing the main story.

Sadly, the answer is no! After you complete the game’s story by choosing a side and getting one of the two endings, depending on your choice, you will see a post-credit scene.

Then, the game will take you back to the main menu, from where you can continue or start a new game.

Why you should pre-order the Stellar Blade Deluxe Edition ASAP

Completing the game for the first time unlocks the Hard difficulty mode, and depending on the ending you choose, there’s also the Raven Outfit that you can unlock but is usable only in the new game.

That said, when you continue the game, instead of spawning you in Xion, the game will take you back to the last checkpoint before the final boss encounter, which, for obvious reasons, we are not going to spoil.

To 100% confirm this, I got the second ending in Stellar Blade, thinking that maybe that ending would give me access to the open world after completing the game, but as you might have already guessed, it didn’t.

Stellar Blade preview: Its combat system is even sexier than its protagonist

As you may already know, developers Shift Up have confirmed a free New Game+ mode post-launch that will allow players to carry over their progress in their next playthrough.

But for now, there is no way to get back to the semi-open world areas after you head to Elder Nytiba’s location.

How to avoid getting locked out of open world in Stellar Blade

There are two key parts of the game’s story where you get warned about getting locked out of open world in Stellar Blade.

When you obtain the third Hyper Cell, before heading to the Orbit Elevator, Adam will warn you that “you can no longer proceed with any side missions.”

So, ensure not to progress the main story further and complete every side quest and activity before proceeding.

The next is when you talk to Lily before heading to Adam’s location during the last mission. You will get the Teleport option to access the other regions for the last time.

This should answer any questions you have about the open world in Stellar Blade once you finish the story.
