The PS5 exclusive action RPG Stellar Blade has garnered quite the attention for its jaw-dropping visuals, stellar character design, and stylish yet substantial combat.

Developer Shift Up hasn’t been subtle about the game’s many inspirations, which range from Square Enix’s Neir Automata to FromSoftware’s Soulsborne titles.

Here’s why you should pre-order the Stellar Blade Deluxe Edition

Despite borrowing ideas from some of the genre’s best, the new title looks unique in its own right. However, while it’s too early to comment on Stellar Blade’s scope and size, Shift Up has confirmed what kind of game it is.

As such, in this guide, we explain whether Stellar Blade is open world or not.

No, Stellar Blade isn’t a fully open world game. It features multiple open-ended areas that may or may not be directly connected.

That said, the game features a fast travel system, which you can use to travel back and forth between different regions, in case you missed a collectible or simply wish to revisit.

According to Shift Up’s director, Kim Hyung Tae, the games main region Xion is connected to various “semi-open world” regions, such as the Wasteland and the Great Desert.

In addition to progressing the main story, these areas will be home to various NPCs, side quests, and secrets, which you can interact with during your journey. T

As of this writing, there’s no word on the sheer scope and size of the world, but the studio has confirmed that its main story will take about 25 hours to finish and about 30-50 hours to get the platinum trophy.

Needless to say, the game looks like a pretty meat game with plenty to offer.

Shift Up has also confirmed a new game plus mode for the game, which will be available post-launch as a free DLC. While there’s no word on what it will offer, it shouldn’t be far-fetched to at least expect more challenging encounters and better gear.
