Sony has announced that it will be hosting multiple online competitions with its PlayStation 4 Tournaments: Open Series.

The event kicks off on June 1 with seven game titles — Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11, Warface, NBA 2K20, SoulCalibur VI, and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

The Open Series will host weekly qualifiers for all eligible participants, with winners advancing to the monthly final where they will be competing for rewards and prizes.

The reward system for the Online Series will be progression-based, with the value of prizes increasing as players advance in the tournament. All participants will receive special PlayStation 4 themes and avatars. Winners of each weekly open qualifier for select games will earn US$100; while the winners of the monthly finals will have the opportunity to win a share of the US$1,000 prize pool, or even more.

Players who advance to the monthly finals for FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in North American and Europe get a chance to be included in the invitational tournaments, which will be broadcast and hosted by PlayStation.

Sony introduced its online competitions with the PlayStation 4 Tournaments: Challenger Series last year. This tournament offered in-game and cash prizes, but only included three game titles — Mortal Kombat 11, Warface, and Battlefield V — compared to this year’s seven.

Players interested in joining the PlayStation 4 Tournaments: Open Series will have to sign in to their PSN account and register using the Competition Center.
