Nintendo’s smash-hit simulation game Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to break sales records, and now sits on the top of the Nintendo Switch digital charts.

New Horizons is currently the Switch’s top-selling title “for both lifetime digital sales and lifetime digital revenue,” according to Nielsen Company’s SuperData. It sold 3.6 million digital units this month alone, breaking records and surpassing triple A titles such as the PlayStation-exclusive Final Fantasy VII Remake which only sold a total of 2.2 million digital units back in April.

Since its release in March, Animal Crossing has broken a number of other records. Last month, it surpassed Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops III as the title with the most console digital sales in the span of a month at 5 million units. New Horizons is also the fastest-selling Switch game of all time, amassing a total of over 13 million system bundles and digital unit sales during its first six weeks.

Comparing to its 2019 data, Nintendo has revealed that its digital sales increased by a whopping 71.8% this year. The company raked in JP¥ 204 million (US$ 1.9 million) for this fiscal year, as revealed in a financial report released by the company.
