Tournament favorite, Vici Gaming opened up Day 4 of the MDL Chengdu Major where they battled a team no one expected to see in the Upper Bracket, Fighting PandaS.

Vici Gaming finished first in Group B, while Fighting PandaS upset EHOME in Group A to advance into the Upper Bracket.

Game one

Vici Gaming dominated the laning stage of game one. Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun constantly kept Moonmeander retreating from the offlane while Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang on the Pugna took down the middle lane tower at the eight-minute mark.

Vici Gaming erased Dire heroes off the map and continued to increase their lead against a struggling Fighting PandaS squad.

In a last-ditch effort, Fighting PandaS attempted a smoke gank that was easily stopped by VG.

Game two

In game two, Fighting PandaS had a better laning phase compared to the previous game, but it still wasn’t enough to outplay VG during team fights.

VG constantly countered Fighting PandaS’ gank attempts. Zhou “Yang” Haiyang beat out the Dire team’s core heroes with perfectly timed Borrowstrikes on his Sand King.

After easily defeating Fighting PandaS 2-0, Vici Gaming has now advanced to the Upper Bracket semifinals where they will face the winner of the Invictus Gaming versus Evil Geniuses match.

Meanwhile, Fighting PandaS fall to the Lower Bracket where they will battle South American squad, Beastcoast.
