Newbee upset Chinese juggernaut team, Vici Gaming, on the third day of the ESL One Los Angeles Online Dota 2 tournament.

After taking game one, Newbee’s Yin “Aq” Rui helped seal the victory with a perfect game on Morphling where he went 19/0/7.

In game two, Newbee decided to run a Dazzle safelane hard carry for Moogy. This meant Aq was Newbee’s primary damage dealer while the rest of his teammates provided support and enemy hero control.

Aq’s immensely farmed Morphling made quick work of Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun’s Lifestealer with his Ethereal Blade-Adaptive Strike combo followed by a Timber Chain.

VG persevered as Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang’s Storm Spirit was able to steal the Roshan kill and pick up the Cheese from Newbee. Ori then caught four Newbee heroes in his Electric Vortex and Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan followed up with an Impale and Meteor Hammer combo.

But VG lacked the damage to eliminate Newbee’s heroes. With all of VG’s spells used, Newbee ran straight into the Radiant base and finished the series.

With their 2-0 victory, Newbee moved up to second place in the Chinese Group Stage bracket with a 5-2 record.

Meanwhile, Vici Gaming dropped to fifth place with a 2-5 score after the third day of competition.
