The grand opening of Universal Studios Japan’s upcoming Super Nintendo World might be delayed due to concerns over the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The Japan National Tourism Organization has announced the temporary closure of two of the country’s most popular theme parks: Tokyo Disneyland/DisneySea and Universal Studios. Other tourist attractions have been closed as well.

With the USJ’s operations put to a halt, events canceled in Japan and the alarming increase of COVID-19 cases, the launch of the much-awaited Super Nintendo World might also be postponed. It was scheduled to open this Summer.

Super Nintendo World will feature a Mario-like obstacle course for fans to play at, with smart wristbands and their smartphones to be used throughout the attraction.

For now, all theme parks and other tourist attractions will be closed until at least March 15.

The full list of major facilities affected can be viewed here.
