Battle royale on-the-go is about to get more intense as video game company Electronic Arts just revealed a partnership with a Chinese publisher for Apex Legends Mobile.

The partnership was announced in EA’s Q3 report, where Apex Legends Mobile is said to “be released globally,” as confirmed by Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad.

So far, the Chinese publisher has not been named.

The possibility of EA and Respawn Entertainment’s successful battle royale title being ported on mobile devices surfaced late last year, with EA CFO and COO Blake Jorgensen declaring its release in 2021 fiscal year, which begins on October 1, 2020.

“Rolling mobile out in China, you need to have a partner, and we’re, as we’ve said in the prepared remarks today, working with a partner there. We’re very excited about the opportunity,” said Jorgensen during a question-and-answer session.

Teaming up with Chinese companies is a common sight in the industry. Blizzard Entertainment teamed up with NetEase for the development of upcoming mobile title Diablo Immortal while Activision sealed a deal with Tencent for the launch of Call of Duty Mobile in China.
