Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s US opening proved to be a resounding success.

The film made more than US$17.6 million during its opening weekend on March 18, 2022, according to box office authority Exhibitor Relations Co. It was shown in over 2,300 theaters nationwide in English dubbed and subbed releases, distributed by Crunchyroll, in association with Funimation.

Notably, the anime film has earned a spot on the list of the highest grossing anime films of all time in the United States.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 USA sales soar to US$34 million, becoming the 5th highest grossing anime movie in the US

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the fifth highest grossing anime movie of all time in the USA with an estimated US$34.5 million in earnings. Initially holding the fourth spot, it was later surpassed by Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in the same year, 2022, with a US$38.1 million gross.

The movie is based on Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 0 manga, a four-chapter series that introduces readers to its expansive universe. It follows Yuta Okkotsu, a high-school student who is haunted by the cursed spirit of his childhood friend, Rika Orimoto.

Pokemon: The Movie 2000’s US$43.7 million revenue makes it the third highest-grossing movie of all time. In second place is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train which grossed a total of US$49.5 million since its release in 2020.

Pokemon The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back is the highest grossing anime movie in the US, which made over US$85.7 million at the box office.
